A Tennessee woman was attacked and beaten with a hammer by her ex-boyfriend just 30 minutes after cops dropped her off at home with an order of protection against him, her dad says.

Bailey Perger's father, Jeremy Perger, told local Fox affiliate WZTV that his daughter was found battered and bleeding in her backyard after the early morning attack, which unfolded at her home in Nashville on Oct. 17.

"Unfortunately, I told her she should be fine going back home," Jeremy Perger said, noting that Bailey had just obtained an order of protection against her ex, Ross Peterson, around 6:15 a.m. that Saturday. "When she got home 30 minutes later, he was outside slashing her tires."

Officers responded to Bailey Perger's home around 7:15 a.m. and found her "lying in her backyard with extensive injuries to her head and face," according to a Metropolitan Nashville Police Department press release.

Her mom said on Facebook last week that Bailey Perger had undergone facial surgery and is now facing a "long road of recovery." Before the surgery, Bailey Perger's mother shared a photo of Peterson and wrote, "Please continue to pray for my girl who will go into surgery today to repair what this MONSTER did to her."

According to the MNPD release, officers had gone to Bailey Perger's home "a few hours earlier" after she reported that Peterson had been sending her "multiple threatening text messages" and showed up at her doorstep, "where they argued." Officers assisted her in obtaining the order of protection and a harassment warrant, per the MNPD release.

"Officers drove the victim home," the release says. "A short time later, Peterson returned to the residence. The victim heard a knock at the door and when she looked outside, she reported seeing Peterson appear to vandalize her car. She went outside to confront him when the attack occurred."

Cops recovered a hammer that was found on the ground in the backyard and collected it as evidence, according to MNPD officials.

Peterson allegedly took Bailey Perger's cellphone during the attack. Attempts to locate him afterward were unsuccessful at first. He was eventually tracked down and arrested in Arkansas, WZTV reports.

"The fact that we live in a horrible world and something like this can happen," Jeremy Perger said, crying. "I want him to go away for a long time."

Peterson is expected to be brought back to Nashville in the coming days as he faces multiple charges in Davidson County related to the attack, including aggravated assault.
